We Are Free Indeed

For we know that our old self was crucified with Him so that the body ruled by sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin— because anyone who has died has been set free from sin.

So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.

Unlike a group of colonists who declare their freedom from their mother country, our freedom as believers is an individual thing. It is up to us to claim victory through Jesus Christ over sin and death. 

I don’t know why but I’m afraid it is human nature to let ourselves slip back into old habits or past behaviors. But we mustn’t do that. We must claim the victory of Jesus and resist the temptation to become enslaved again. 

We must remember that Jesus died once and for all. Our sins are vanquished and we are free indeed.
