Make Disciples

Thursday, June 22, 2017

Here are some of the things new believers need to know about and learn how to do.
  • Baptism
  • Daily Quiet Times
  • Bible Study
  • Memorization of Scripture
  • Scripture Meditation
  • CorporateWorship
  • Fellowship with other believers
  • Sharing their faith with others
SCRIPTURE MEMORIZATION vs MEDITATION
New believers should start memorizing Scripture right away.
Why?
Because you can't have your Bible with you 24/7/365.25 and you might need to reference something. Sometimes something will happen during the day that will remind you of Scripture. It's wonderful to have it at your "fingertips" in your brain.
What verses should be memorized?
All of Scripture is important. But there are several verses that are particularly helpful for the new believer. I post one memory verse every Sunday morning on this blog in case you're interested in checking it out.

What is meditation? That is savoring the Scripture for its nourishment -- spending time contemplating its meaning, praying it, soaking it in.

The new believer needs both of these to become well-rounded.

Lord, you want us to grow to be solid, mature Christians.  I pray that we will make you proud as we absorb your word into our lives.
