Is it easier to grumble and complain or to hold your tongue?
Do we get pleasure from griping?
Does being grumpy usually make those around us happy?
I would like to suggest that griping, complaining, and grumbling is human nature. It’s easier to do that than to be positive or to do nothing at all.
As Christians, we are told to be set apart from our human nature — to edify others and to bring glory to God.
“Do everything without grumbling or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation. Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky as you hold firmly to the word of life.”
Philippians 2:14-16
LORD, this seems almost impossible for us to do on our own. Empower us with your Holy Spirit so that we have the insight, strength and courage to keep our grumbling and our criticism to ourselves. May we be your stars shining in our world. May we bring you glory. Amen.
