Johnson: Part II

May 13, 3025

What are Johnson’s dreams?

When LeeAnn, Bill J., and I were in Haiti in 2017, we saw amazing things. We experienced people coming in droves to the remote clinics we  held. We saw people in an open-air dirt floor setting being tested for HIV, diabetes, kidney failure and other issues. We saw children in a one-room school getting toothbrushes and being taught the importance of good dental hygiene. We saw senior members of the community come with empty plastic bottles so that we could fill them with cooking oil. We saw people sweeping the dirt road with branches. We saw people come from nowhere to help Dr Gerve change a flat tire. But most of all we saw smiles and appreciation for us and for the Gerve family.

Johnson has witnessed the health transformation of his friends and neighbors and he longs to help his brother continue his work.

That’s the bottom line.

Navigating this pathway has proven to be a Herculean task.

Although I feel like Johnson can do just about anything, he has never held a job. There are so very few in Haiti. Yet he is smart and determined and keeps trying to find a way to reach his dream. He is a tender-hearted Christian young man and continues to exercise his faith in God’s promises for him.

LORD, This dream of Johnson’s continues to be elusive. Yet we trust that you will continue to meet his needs. Thank you that you know him and you know his heart. Thank you for your direction for His life. Amen
