There’s No Place Like Home

Sunday, June 8, 2025

My mind is not firing on all cylinders today after having been up for 24 hours yesterday and then getting a short and fitful sleep last night. But I’m sure I’ll be raring to go tomorrow and hopefully I’ll be back to finishing the writings about our trip.

I had several people at church today ask me about various aspects of our travels and my answers kept coming back to the same conclusion.
  • We had an absolutely wonderful time.
  • We really enjoyed everyone who went.
  • The weather cooperated nicely.
  • The tour guides were super.
  • The places we visited were incredible.
  • We wore ourselves out.
  • We are very glad we did it.
  • We are more glad to be home.

This was just about the sweetest sight as we came down the escalator in Lexington—Patrick’s children.

They missed their daddy so much. And he missed them.

Two weeks away from each other was wiped away with one kiss. I love this man! And he brought me flowers!

Patrick’s wife was behind the camera and from the looks of her red eyes, she was not feeling very photograph-ready. She did a great job without Patrick but she was SO glad for him to get home!

We are very blessed to have the opportunity to travel the world and to have wonderful families to come home to. Tonight 12 of our 16 family members gathered at our table as is customary on Sundays. It was loud and chaotic as usual. Dorothy was right. “There’s no place like home!”

LORD, Thank you for safely bring us home. Thank you for our families. Thank you for your many wonderful blessings in our lives. You are the best!
