When was the last time you walked someone through Scripture to show them how to become a Christian?
Could you do it with a Bible in your hand?
What if you don't have your Bible with you. Could you recite the verses from memory?
This week we are going to look at each of the following verses with the idea that by the end of the week, you might have them all memorized. And, of course, it would be awesome if you are then able to lead someone to Christ as a result.
Here is the premise for using these Scriptures.
- Recognize that nobody is perfect. Everybody has sinned.
- Our sin separates us from God. But Jesus' death on the cross allows us to reach God.
- Even though we were sinners, Christ died in our place to pay the penalty for our sins.
- If we confess that Jesus is Lord of our lives and believe that he rose from the dead, we can become a Christian.
- If we open the door to our hearts and ask the Lord to come in and live there, He will. And we will never be the same.
- Romans 3:23 NIV: “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,”
- Romans 6:23 NIV: “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
- Romans 5:8 NIV: “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
- Romans 10:9-10 NIV: If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.”
- Revelation 3:20 NIV: “Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.”
We'll cover these verses this week so stay tuned. Pray about how God can use you to share His plan of salvation.
Lord, we are all sinners. If it weren't for you we wouldn't have any chance of getting to heaven -- or of helping our neighbors do the same. Give us a burden for the lost. Give us the confidence to take your plan of salvation to everyone we meet.
