Disaster Relief
Tuesday, August 29, 2017
We've seen pictures of the devastation in Texas and our focus soon will be on Louisiana Our hearts ache for the people affected. But what can we do? We are so far away.
If yesterday's Scripture verse means anything, then we will put our love to action in order to help the people in Harvey's pathway.
In keeping with the missions mindset, we can "PRAY, GIVE, and GO."
- Listen to the news so that you can pray specifically for those in need.
- Give financially to any number of disaster relief organizations like: Samaritan's Purse, your state's Disaster Relief team through the Southern Baptist church, Catholic Charities USA, United Methodist Committee on Relief, the Salvation Army, or the Red Cross.
- Donate blood.
- Roll up your sleeves and go help.
- Help veterinarians who go to help and offer to foster displaced pets.
Consider the needs of the region after Harvey clears out, as well. The flooding is so profound that people will be recovering for months and months. Don't forget them.
Lord, help the people affected by this hurricane. Give them strength and bless them, Lord. Lay on our hearts what it is that You would have us to do to show them Your love.
