As long as the earth endures,
seedtime and harvest,
cold and heat,
summer and winter,
day and night will never cease.
Genesis 8:22 NIV
It looks like we are in no danger of the earth going away anytime soon because the seasons are definitely rolling along! We have moved from cold to heat, all right. I don't know about you but I have found these past few days to have been flat out hot. But what do we expect? It's July!
So how does humidity factor in to the perceived heat of the day? If the temp is 87 degrees and the humidity is 67%, then it feels like it's 96 degrees. The higher the humidity the hotter it feels because you can't get perspiration to evaporate and cool your skin.
Did you know that in Lexington in July, it is typically more humid at 4:00 A.M. and least humid at 4:00 P.M.
And guess what the hottest day of the year tends to be. July 21!
So I guess we shouldn't be too surprised that we are melting and running into our shoes these days. It won't be long, though, and we'll be looking at autumn. Until then, savor what we've got right now. Bask in its joy every day. And know that the earth endures!
