Bless the Lord, O My Soul

When I woke up this morning, I began contemplating how blessed we are. God promised that He would take care of our every need and He has done just that. 

But He has done exceedingly more than we could ever ask or imagine. He has blessed us more than we deserve, that's for sure. 

Perhaps it's easy to praise the Lord when He has done such marvelous things. But I want to praise Him for who He is. He is God. He is Shepherd. He is Light. He is Life. He is my Everything. 

“Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth.
Worship the Lord with gladness; 
come before him with joyful songs. 
Know that the Lord is God. 
It is he who made us, and we are his; 
we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.

Enter his gates with thanksgiving 
and his courts with praise; 
give thanks to him and praise his name. 
For the Lord is good and his love endures forever; 
his faithfulness continues through all generations.”

  1. It's just contemplating how much I cherish the words and phrases and songs of our faith. As I read your blog, I could remember some of the scripture I learned as a G.A., growing up at First Baptist in Richmond. I also delighted in the many phrases in the beloved hymns as well as our choir music that I have tucked away in my heart. God has given each of us a joyful heart. And we forget, entirely too often, to say
    "bless the Lord oh my soul and all that is within me
    bless His holy name."
