The Seekers: God and Man
The Seekers: God and Man
“And you,
Solomon my son, know the God of your father, and serve him with a whole heart
and with a willing mind; for the Lord searches all hearts, and understands
every plan and thought. If you seek him he will be found by you; but if you
forsake him, he will cast you off forever.” I Chronicles 28:9
David, wizened in his old age, has
learned that the task of building the temple will fall to his son, Solomon.
God, says David, understands us and
knows our hearts and plans. If our hearts are sincere, serious about our desire
to know God, he will allow us to find him. He will “be found” by us – passive voice! In our earnest searching, God
supernaturally show us where to look and how to find!
This reminds me of human parents
playing hide and seek with their small children. The children look in all the
wrong places, but we parents carefully place ourselves where we know they will
look and then act surprised and pleased to be found!
So it is with God. He wants us to
find him – to have fellowship with him – to talk to him – to listen to him – to
learn from him. He allows himself to be somewhere that he knows we will look.
We feel so clever but he planned it all along!
Prayer: Father, we
thank you for being a good father who lets your children find you. We praise
you for Easter – the perfect time to find you! Amen.
“I am
the resurrection and the life.” John 11:25
